Why Our Family Recycles?
Recycling has always been an important thing for us. It all started when we heard about it through our grandparents–they have an enormous compost pile in their backyard in Wisconsin. It is so big that our grandpa, “Poppa” puts up layers of cement blocks just to keep all the goodies inside. Eventually, of course, it attracted all sorts of animals like skunks, deer, foxes, and even bears! Yikes! (Now he made a cover for that compost pile!) Poppa uses the compost to fertilize their garden; instead of throwing away all their apple or potato peelings, for example, they degrade in their compost pile and end up making great fertilizer for their garden.
